We are approaching the blessed month of Ramadan, the Leader of All months. This is the month which the rest of your year reflects, to make the most of your Ramadan is to rectify the rest of your year. But how can we start this month right?
The first step is to turn your heart to Allah SWT. To turn back to Allah SWT is the meaning of tawbah; and our hearts are hearts that turn… ‘Oh Turner of Hearts, make firm my heart upon the faith’‘. When we turn our hearts back to Allah SWT with repentance, seeking His Forgiveness, and with a longing to draw close to Him, we prepare ourselves for making sincere intention…
At the beginning of many Hadith compilations you’ll see that the first and foremost hadith is the hadith of intentions.
“Actions are but by intentions, and each man will have but that which he intended…”
— Sunan an-Nasa’i, Sahih
Make sincere, lofty intentions. This is how we can take our actions from the mundane, rote action to something that becomes an act of worship, and when we make lofty intentions for our fasts, for our upcoming Ramadan, we make it a means for us to achieve greater reward and benefit!
It’s important we remember that Allah SWT wants us to turn back to Him. This means we can’t ever lose hope, no matter what our situation or what we’ve done. If we always have hope, and keep striving, and turning back to Him, we will be among those Allah loves, Insha’Allah!????
“… Indeed, Allāh loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves.”
— Qur’an 2:222
