Neediness to people makes you a slave to others, not to God. Others will not benefit you. The only One who benefits you is Allah ﷻ so free yourself from others.
We assume that people who have power or wealth might bring benefit or harm. Therefore we allow ourselves to be humiliated by people we are in need of. In fact, people never bring benefit or cause harm to others. Only Allah ﷻ can do this.
There is nothing wrong with interacting with people, and asking people for help, a favour or money. As long as seeking people’s help does not bring with it any neediness in one’s heart or feeling of humiliation.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “ask for your needs with dignity.”
If you realise that people do not have the ability to benefit or harm you, then you will deal with people with the right state of heart.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “O young lad! If the whole nation were to unite and try to benefit you with something, they would never benefit you except by that which God has written for you.”
Real freedom comes from servitude to Allah ﷻ alone.
So this step is to take efforts to be free from others so that you become aware that Allah alone is the only one who can benefit you!
